Ely Cathedral


 This towering 11th century stone building stands as testimony to the power of both the Church and of England�s new king - William the Conqueror. It dominated the flat landscape of eastern England.


Burghley House


This 16th century house is one of the grandest houses in England with over one hundred rooms. It was originally built in an �E� shape in honour of Queen Elizabeth I.


Scottish Parliament Building

Blackpool Tower Ballroom


This 19th century dance hall is a world famous Victorian landmark. It was an instant success and people still waltz to the sound of its �Mighty Wurlitzer� organ.


Trafalgar Square


Built to commemorate the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, Trafalgar Square rapidly became the focal point of national celebrations and protests. This collection is not featured in the How We Built Britain television series.
