These Photosynths were generated through a collaboration between NASA and Live Labs. They show four different aspects of the Shuttle's lifecycle as never before seen.
Due to bad weather at Kennedy Space Center, the shuttle Atlantis landed at Edwards Air Force Base in California and returned to KSC piggy-backed on top of a 747. This was most likely Atlantis' final flight.
A collection of photos from Endeavour taken during the backflip process. This procedure provides a camera view of the shuttle's often-nicked underside and is used to examine the tiles.
See Endeavour on Launch Pad 39A after the rollout in preparation for launch. The 22nd flight to the International Space Station, STS-118 will be the first flight for Endeavour since 2002. Photosynth allows you to explore many details of the launch pad and supporting infrastructure.
Prior to launch, the shuttle is mated to the External fuel tank and the booster rockets inside the Vehicle Assembly Building. This collection shows Endeavour undergoing the operation.
Originally built for assembly of Apollo/Saturn vehicles, the Vehicle Assembly Building is one of the largest buildings in the world and dominates the landscape of Kennedy Space Center.
