Microsoft Live Labs was proud to be a major sponsor at this year’s 29th annual ACM SIGIR conference which took place here in Seattle, Washington August 6th-11th at the University of Washington.  SIGIR is the major international forum for the presentation of new research results and the demonstration of new systems and techniques in the broad field of information retrieval.  Overall, Microsoft had 60+ delegates attend the conference and participated in the presentation of 13 papers.  Live Labs hosted the annual SIGIR awards ceremony and banquet at Tillicum Village where conference attendees were treated to a ferry ride to Blake Island, a fresh salmon dinner, and a spellbinding stage presentation highlighting some of the traditional dances, myths and legends of the Northwest Coast.  Good times were had by all and Live Labs is looking forward to our participation at next year’s conference in Amsterdam.
